We'd like to share with you a brief look into the DSPanel history.

2009 - Performance Canvas 2.0 and ...

Performance Canvas 2009 adds much wanted functionality as well as being even easier to use. Advanced graphics, analytics, reporting, the unique BI wiki concept, a new market leading BI search functiality and much more. However 2009 has yet more surprises in store as we make our next major announcement ...

2008 - SAP Netweaver and IBM Cubing Services

We knew Performance Canvas had great potential for addressing databases beyond Microsoft SQL Server but we never anticipated the modular structure to cope with the challenges of SAP Netweaver and IBM Cubing Services so well. What was planned in the roadmap for the next major release Performance Canvas 2009 actually slipped in as a christmas gift into the continously updated 2007 version!

2007 - The new Performance Canvas

While our core values stay the same, the technology advances. DSPanel launches the new "Performance Canvas 2007". The information worker is now mobile, technology use is pervasive and diverse and the Microsoft BI technology stack is a better foundation than ever. In comparison to the earlier DSPanel product the new Performance Canvas is a foundation for the future supporting multiple rendering formats bringing portal like BI technology to Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 applications, Mobile phones and PDAs, the new Microsoft Vista operating system as well as being the best BI business solution for Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

2006 - Microsoft Office 2007

With the introduction of Office 2007, SharePoint Server 2007 and PerformancePoint Server 2007 Microsoft is advancing its position in BI, which is reflected in a fiercely competitive CPM and BI market where the traditional high priced BI vendors is struggling. Microsoft's effort in the area is to a large extent sharing the DSPanel core product values and albeit some initial market confusion, 2006 and the new Microsoft BI products really advances the value creation of the DSPanel products.

2005 - Corporate Performance Management

As Corporate Performance Management (CPM) became the buzzword of the BI industry DSP Portal Edition was chosen as the Portal for delivering live CPM data by the leading CPM vendor Outlooksoft. The role of portals in communicating objectives and creating a platform for operative decision making was clear.

2004 - The power of Licensing

Once more leading the BI industry we realized the need from the pervasive "per user pricing" to a server based pricing. This change surpassed our expectations in driving our core value "BI for everyone". Later a series of vendors have followed this key initiative. At the same time OEM licensing started to be a major contributor in the DSP revenue stream.

2003 - OEM and Reporting

This year meant the real start OEM licensing for DSPanel. Together with our first large OEM customer, Epicor Software, we've shown the way in creating business value and CxO appeal marketable within weeks of the decision on top of any LOB or ERP system. Microsoft launched its Reporting Services which was an obvious fit complementing the DSP Portal Edition. Using the advanced OLAP action technology in Microsoft SQL Server AS released to the user by DSP Portal edition many of our customers have created Management-by-exception dashboards giving executives focused report access.

2002 - DSP goes SharePoint

As Microsoft turned its DDRK technology into its first portal server product Microsoft SharePoint 2003 DSP released DSP Portal Edition version 4. Since then we've been the leader in portalized BI for the Microsoft SharePoint world.

2001 - Portals & Analysis tools

To fully harness the power of the portal and collaborative functions of DSP Portal Edition a weave of integration possibilities opened up. The first analysis and reporting tools integration was done in DSP Portal Edition version 3 with analysis tools like ProClarity and Panorama.

2000 - The first Microsoft BI Portal ever - DSP Portal Edition version 1

As Microsoft launched its Digital Dashboard Resource kit (DDRK) - an early predecessor to Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) DSPanel saw the potential of creating a portalized BI solution based on the DDRK. This new product, soon to be the flagship in the DSP product portfolio, was named DSP Portal Edition.

1999 - BI for the masses

DSPanel was founded with the firm belief in bringing Business Intelligence to masses. The core values of our first product, the DSP Outlook Edition, were

  • BI for everyone
  • BI where you work - in Microsoft Office
  • Collaborative platform - every analysis as a collaborative object
  • Give Business users the full power of the Microsoft SQL 2000 Analysis Server

- Henry Carroll, Chief Financial Officer, Colfax Pump Group

"Our users love the flexibility and presentation method of the tool. DSP integrates very well with SharePoint, which is our intranet portal architecture.
